A proactive check you can carry out for peace of mind.
When was the last time you tested the forms on your website?
If you’re like most business owners, it might have been a while or maybe never.
The truth is: you don’t always know when something’s gone wrong.
Forms can stop working without warning, and unlike a broken page or missing image, there’s often no visible sign. Unless someone goes out of their way to call or email you directly.
Why should you test your forms?
Your website, email, and domain settings aren’t fixed in place. They all depend on different systems working together, and sometimes things change in the background. This is especially true for email delivery – it can shift over time and, in some cases, stop working as expected.
For example:
- A form might be sending messages to an old or unmanned inbox.
- A spam filter could be silently blocking genuine enquiries.
- A spam / bot protection service such as Google Recaptcha could become unverified or blocked.
- A domain name update or email provider change might have caused a technical hiccup.
- Testing your website forms regularly gives you peace of mind that everything’s working as expected.
Test your forms and make it a habit
We recommend checking your website forms once a month at minimum (or at a regular interval that works for you). Just send yourself a quick test message and make sure it comes through correctly. It only takes a minute.
and don’t forget when testing;
- Write a genuine looking test. Don’t write the word ‘test’ for example (It can trigger spam/junk filters)
- Wait upto 30 minutes from the time a form is submitted to be delivered to your mailbox.
- Check spam and junk folders.
- Check other mailboxes.
