The truth about SEO

This post is all about the truth of SEO. (Search engine optimisation)

There’s a lot of misinformation on SEO which has become consumer folklore, mostly originating from very old / non-existent techniques and also poor quality sources.

We’re often asked to add keywords to a site so prospective visitors can find that site in Google.

The problem with this is that there is an expectation that you do it once and google will bring all the visitors to your site, fast and sink your competition.

Well, this couldn’t be farther from the truth.

SEO is a strategy of continued work over years, results are not fast (That’s why paid adverts exist)

My own thoughts on SEO and content is to treat your website like an extended brochure. Expanding on all the information you could find in a brochure about your business, how you educate your audience, how you add value, how you solve problems, and so on. That can be one big brochure of content.

You don’t need a blog, or landing pages, door way pages or other specific techniques.

You need good quality content in a good quality structure. It’s been the same since day 1 of google and is the same now.

Simple in essence but hard to be consistent if you don’t have a strategic plan and budget.
